Shelter Plus Care Program Coordinator

The City of Topeka is seeking a dedicated social services professional to oversee the Shelter Plus Care Program. This is a HUD program that provides individuals with a disability a housing subsidy and assistance. The Program Coordinator will work closely with referring partner agencies, landlords, and clients and assist clients through the process of receiving a Shelter Plus Care voucher, finding housing, and maintaining their housing.

What you'll do:

  • Provide full-cycle case management services to Shelter Plus Care clients.
  • Work closely with referring partner agencies, landlords, and clients to secure and maintain housing.
  • Complete data entry into online systems and submit required reports to maintain compliance with the Shelter Plus Care grant.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm in high-stress situations
  • The ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced, team environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • An aptitude for technology and the ability to utilize data effectively
  • A passion for community engagement

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, human services, or related field is preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of related experience in program administration.
  • Must be insurable within the standards set by the City of Topeka insurance carrier and must possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license.

Minimum entry rate of pay: $23.07 per hour
