Collection Systems Operator - Water Pollution Control

The City of Topeka's Utilities department is seeking a hard-working individual to serve as a Collection Systems Operator in the Water Pollution Control division. This is an entry-level position that offers stability and excellent benefits in an interesting and challenging work environment.

What you'll do:

  • Operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs on a wide variety of heavy equipment.
  • Respond and assist to Utility-related calls such as overflows and blockages.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on wastewater and storm water collection systems, flood control assets and facilities.

This position will receive training and assistance on company-paid time to obtain a class A Kansas commercial driver's license (CDL), which is required by the conclusion of six months of employment.

Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license and meet City insurability guidelines. Please review the Insurability Guidelines.

Entry rate of pay: $19.67 per hour.
